QIGONG?
What is
We practice a unique form of Qigong that blends time-tested energy principles with modern neuroscience and holistic health education, known as Brain Education. This method was developed by Ilchi Lee, a Korean visionary and educator who has spent decades researching the connection between energy, consciousness, and personal development.
What is Qigong?
Qigong (also spelled Ki Gong or Kigong) is an ancient mind-body practice that combines gentle movements, breathing techniques, and focused awareness to cultivate and balance qi (pronounced "chee")—the vital life energy that flows through all living beings. Rooted in traditional Eastern philosophies and medicine, Qigong is designed to help harmonize the body, calm the mind, and awaken inner energy.
The Roots of Qigong in Sundo
Sundo is an ancient Korean Taoist practice, dating back over 5,000 years, centered on harmonising the body, mind, and spirit with the natural laws of the universe. The term "Sundo" combines "Sun," meaning enlightened being, and "Do," meaning way or path, effectively translating to "the path of enlightenment." Practitioners of Sundo engage in a combination of physical postures, controlled breathing, and meditation to cultivate vital energy (qi) and achieve holistic well-being.
Ilchi Lee, the founder of Body & Brain, began his teachings rooted in the principles of Sundo. He adapted these ancient techniques to develop Brain Education, a modern system designed to unlock the brain's potential and promote self-mastery. This integration preserves the essence of Sundo while making it accessible and practical for contemporary practitioners.
The exercises focus on opening and balancing the body's energy centres, facilitating the flow of qi throughout the body. This approach aims to enhance physical health, emotional balance, and spiritual growth
The Benefits of Qigong
Practicing Qigong regularly can lead to a wide range of physical, mental, and emotional benefits, including:
-
Improved energy levels and vitality
-
Better posture, flexibility, and balance
-
Reduced stress and anxiety
-
Enhanced focus and emotional resilience
-
Greater self-awareness and inner peace

Because the movements are gentle and adaptable, Qigong is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Whether you’re looking to relieve tension, boost your immune system, or find greater mental clarity, this practice offers a simple yet powerful path to holistic wellness.

Qigong and Brain Education
Unlike some styles of Qigong that focus purely on physical or meditative aspects, this aspect of Qigong integrates a comprehensive system that empowers individuals to activate the brain’s potential and manage their thoughts, emotions, and energy more effectively (Brain Education).

Brain Education is based on five steps that help practitioners:
-
Awaken the body's senses and energy awareness
-
Develop focus and flexibility in both body and mind
-
Release emotional blockages and stress
-
Strengthen the connection between the brain and the body
-
Create a deeper sense of purpose and self-mastery
This approach makes Qigong accessible and practical for modern lifestyles, while still honouring its deep roots in Eastern healing traditions.

Through his teachings, books, and global initiatives, he has inspired millions to take charge of their own health and happiness using the tools of energy cultivation and brain-based learning.

His philosophy emphasizes that everyone has the power to change their lives by changing their energy and mindset. Qigong, as taught through Body & Brain, is one of the core practices that supports this transformation.
